This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. Canal View – Houghton County is the only Nursing Home from the Upper Peninsula receiving the “Newsweek’s Best Nursing Homes 2023” award.
America’s “Best Nursing Homes 2023” highlights the nations’ top Nursing Homes based on performance data, peer recommendations, the handling of the current COVID-19 situation, relative to in-state competition and accreditation. Out of almost 12,000 Nursing Homes in the 25 considered states, 2,132 met the criteria to qualify. Of these, the best 475 Nursing Homes were awarded by Newsweek and Statista, with Canal View being among those awarded the distinction.
CMS created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to make it easier for those who are looking to compare nursing homes. Canal View received the Five-Star rating due its staff who have worked tirelessly. This is especially noteworthy after the challenges of the last year and the constantly changing regulations due to COVID-19. Canal View is one of only nine nursing homes in all of the Upper Peninsula to receive the rating of Five-Stars and is currently the only local nursing home with a prestigious Five-Star rating
